Labor Day… more than just a holiday.

August 31, 2010

Labor Day weekend is upon us.  As states the US DOL, Labor Day is the day we recognize the social and economic achievements of the American workforce.  There are additional associations with the Labor Day holiday. For some of us, it’s the end of the summer, the beginning of school… a “new year’s day” of sorts.  It’s time to think about a fresh start.  Because, let’s face it – there is just too much pressure to make January 1 resolutions.

So, what will you do to “ring-in” this new start?

Here are some great sites to help you get off on the right foot:

Celebrate!

Celebrate?  Of course celebration is in order!  Food Network offers some fab recipes that will surely please a crowd.  They do a great job with taking the best of the best and organizing them on their site in an easy format.

Keep up with your money.

Keeping up with finances and staying on track with your budget can be overwhelming.  This can be especially difficult for families who have back-to-school costs.  This fabulous money management site, Mint.com, allows you to view all your assets and liabilities in one place.  It’s simple to log-in and FREE!

Get organized.

We love this blog, I’m an Organizing Junkie, writen by Laura – who, hence the name, is addicted to organizing.  She can help you with every area of your house, as well as your life.  Not sure how to organize your bathroom shelves or what to make for breakfast?  She has all the info – organized (but, of course) on her easy-to-navigate site.

This is a side note, but we just had to mention it!  If you are a Triangle reader, be prepared to be extremely excited about this.  The Container Store is going to open on October 16 in the old Circuit City building on the corner of Creedmoor and Glenwood in Raleigh.

So, hum a few lines of “Auld Lang Syne” and get ready for a great fall season!
